CNR - Istituto Officina dei Materiali (IOM) is an interdisciplinary research Institute that carries out research in the fields of condensed matter physics, nanoscience, and biophysics.
The mission of CNR-IOM is twofold: to gain fundamental knowledge at the nano and micro scale that enables novel technologies; to develop advanced methods for the synthesis, characterisation and modelling of functional materials and biosystems
The Trieste headquarters of CNR-IOM focuses on the study of the atomic scale physical properties of materials and systems of nanometric size. The main activities include design, numerical simulation, synthesis and analysis of nanostructured materials, biomaterials, materials for storage an energy and the development of prototypical analytical devices.
